Obituary of Lawrence L. Sproul

Lawrence L. Sproul (71) resident of St. Maries, ID died March 24, 2012 at Coeur d' Alene, ID from a heart attack. He was born November 29, 1940 to Ardell and Laura (Hullinger) Sproul at Minersville, Utah. Lawrence grew up in Las Vegas, NV He graduated from Rancho High School there with the class of 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. He was discharged in 1961 and returned to Las Vegas where he worked as a truck driver delivering freight. He married Vonnell Parker on June 6, 1964 at North Las Vegas, NV. He continued to work in the transportation industry there until he moved to Pahrump, NV in 1970 and went to work for the Nye County road department. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction. While in Pahrump, he volunteered for the local fire department and was instrumental in the formation of the volunteer ambulance service for that area. Lawrence retired in 1998 and moved to the property his parents purchased and developed on Alder Creek, in the Benewah Valley. He enjoyed spending time with his children, taking them hunting and fishing . He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church, St. Maries Ward. Lawrence is survived by his wife Vonnell at the family home on Alder Creek. Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law Dwight and Veronica Sproul Sr. of Pahrump, NV, Lawrence and Jennifer Sproul of Castle Rock, CO., Ralph and Marlene Sproul of Hayden, ID, Robert and MiMi Sproul of Moscow, ID, Kyle and Mariah Sproul and son Kaleb Sproul all of Post Falls, ID. He is also survived by daughters and sons-in-law Evelyn and Eddie Cook of St. Maries and Denise and Christopher Cyr of Colorado Springs, CO. Lawrence is also survived by brothers John, David and Charlie Sproul and sisters Jeanette Stewart , Irene Blackwell and Becky Patrick. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Andy Sproul and sister Inise Spendlove. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. At the St. Maries L.D.S. Church with Bishop Wes Lewis conducting. Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery and a gathering of family and friends will be held back at the Church.
