Obituary of Marty A. Gravestock

Maresa A. "Marty" Gravestock was born March 2, 1939 to Robert and Gertrude (Emerton) Sherman at San Diego, CA. She grew up in San Diego and Ft. Bragg, CA. She graduated from San Diego High School with the class of 1957. She married Tommy Thomas after her graduation. They had two children. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1971 at San Diego Community College. Marty worked as a lab technician at Sharp Memorial Hospital, and later for two physicians in San Diego as a nurse. She was divorced in 1971. Marty met Jon Gravestock in 1973. They moved to Delta Colorado in 1974 where she worked in the lab at the Montrose Colorado hospital. She was later employed at a Physician's office at Montrose. She moved to St. Maries in 1978 and was married to Jon on January 1, 1982 at St. Maries. They purchased Ft. Hemenway Manor in 1984. They made their home in the Manor and managed two apartments. They sold the business in 1993 and moved to their Shepherd Road residence. She was a member of the St. Maries Assembly of God Church. Marty enjoyed decorating the house, watching the wildlife out her window, taking care of her house plants, and the cats and dogs. She was also an avid reader, and a very good cook. Marty is survived by her husband Jon at the family home, and her brother Tom Sherman of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are her daughter Teri Ann Wilson of Lebanon, TN, who she was re-united with after over fifty years from a teen pregnancy that ended in a sealed adoption, son-in-law and daughter Christie Lynn MacWilliams of Ann Arbor, MI, daughter-in-law and son Kevin Thomas of Eugene, OR, and grandaughter Katheryn MacWilliams of Mt. Plesant, MI. Marty was a very strong person, and endured Multiple Sclerosis for 38 years. Marty passed away at home in St. Maries July 3, 2011. She will be missed by those that loved and admired her. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. At the St. Maries Assembly of God Church 421 S. 23rd .St.Maries, Idaho. With Pastor Lynn Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends following back at the church's fellowship hall.
