The obituray speaks volumes to Monte. His voice was a soothing and reassuring addition to scanner traffic. He was calm under fire, clear headed and witty when it was called for. As a friend he was kind and had a way of extracting the best from people, even under lousy conditions. Monte was a genuine human, a character who always focused on the bright side, exuded it, and transformed those around him. He could squeeze a smile from a lemon and make the biggest curmudgeon see a silver lining. An avid reader, outdoorsman - he once belonged to the outdoor writers guild - a conversationalist, generous and big hearted, he'll be missed.
There are too few like he was.

I knew Monte when I worked for ISP in St Maries and he worked for BCSO. We also attended Patch and Badge shows. I was shocked to hear of Montys passing. My condolences to Mr William Keiling and family. Marshall Thorp, Retired ISP.
