Obituary of Shirley M. Irelan

Shirley M. Irelan (77) longtime resident of Fernwood, ID died April 12, 2012 at Kootenai Medical Center after suffering from a heart attack. She was born May 5, 1934 to Harold and Mabel (Klein) Young at Hastings, NB. Shirley grew up in Beaver City, NB and graduated from High School there with the class of 1952. She married Donal Irelan on June 21, 1952 at Beaver City. They made their home at Arapahoe, NB before moving to Fernwood, ID in 1954. She enjoyed Fernwood, where she was a homemaker and raised her family. Shirley was a longtime Avon Lady and had worked for Tyson Creek Mill for several years. She also worked for the Bohemian Bar at Fernwood and her final position was a sales clerk for Ed's R & R. where she worked from 1988 until her retirement in 1995. Shirley was active in the Fernwood Comm. Church. She belonged to the Fernwood Weight Club, Fernwood Ladies Aide, the Up-River P.T.O. And served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, worked as a 4-H volunteer and served on the Riverside Cemetery Board. An avid reader, Shirley also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting hummingbirds and stuffed gorillas. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her husband Don at the family home in Fernwood. Her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Stacy Irelan of Spokane, WA and daughters and sons'-in-law Clysta and Randy Siler of Santa, ID, Michelle and Aaron Smith of Hayden, ID and daughter Danette Evertz of Joliet, MT. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant son Michael, grandchildren Tina Joy Siler and Kyle Wayne Irelan as well as brothers Frank and Lamoine Young and her sister Charlotte Meyers.
