Dear Marge,
We were sorry to hear of Fred's passing. Memories of our time in PC training and in the DR, and your wedding, all came rushing back.
It has been a long time since then. We hope to go to the DR in February for the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps there
We hope you are well, and can find comfort in your time of loss.

Greetings Marj, I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Fred, and the feeling of loss with all the years you had together. It has been many years since our strange adventures in Peace Corps. At least we had a chance to catch up a bit a few years ago by phone.

Marj,
For the past forty years it has been the highlight of my many trips to St. Maries to be able to know and visit with Fred. In addition to being a great friend and neighbor, he was a wealth of knowledge and experience on many topics from flying, firearms, engineering, German Shepard Dogs, to the Forest Service, maintaining a woodlot and local history especially Shay Hill. You always knew where you stood with Fred and his word was as good as gold. It was always interesting to see how he presented a tough exterior, but underneath was a most compassionate and caring person who went out of his way to help others. Fred was a very special person and has left a permanent mark in my life. It has been an honor to be able to call this man a friend.

Marj, I'm sorry for your loss. It was an honor to get to know Fred. If he told you something, it was the truth. He was a book of knowledge. More people like him are needed today, honesty goes a long way in my book. The Marines should be proud of him, once a Marine, always a Marine. I would like to share more, either by letter but preferably in person.

I remember when you came back from the Marine Corp., if we did something that was not correct, you would say "Down for 20 or 30" without question or resisting we would all do our push ups.
Remember how we fit into the little house on 8th street, like the old woman in the shoe?
I asked mom how you were doing each week that I called, but she could not call, as she has no long distance carrier.
Marge you are in my thoughts and prayers.
