Obituary of Catherine L. Lee
Catherine L. Lee (87) former St. Maries resident died January 10, 2015 at Hearthstone Village in Post Falls, ID. She was born October 20, 1927 to Clyde and Rachel Smith in Austin, TX. Catherine Grew up in Austin, TX and graduated high school from there. She later married Jim Green and they made their home in Modesto, CA for 18 years. She was widowed in May 1979 while she and Jim were in the process of relocating to Big Fork, MT to retire.
Catherine met Fred Lee and they married in November 1982. She had said that Fred was the best thing that had ever happened to her. They made their home in Indianapolis for 22 years. Every Sunday, Catherine and Fred would give services at the Assisted Living Facility and she would play piano during the service. In 2005 Fred passed away and Catherine relocated to the Northwest.
The last 3 years of Catherine’s life were spent living at Hearthstone Village in Post Falls where she had outstanding care in their Assisted Living Facility. In her 70’s, Catherine learned how to work a computer and oil paint, both of which she loved.
Catherine was a lifelong Christian with the Baptist Church. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, square dancing, she learned Spanish, and she loved life. Catherine was an outstanding mother who loved her family very much.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Linda Buck of St. Maries and her sister Clarice (Ellis) Lane of Austin TX. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter JoAnn Devore.
A graveside service is planned Saturday January 17, 2014 1:00 pm at the Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
