Obituary of Theodore Philip Sowers
Theodore “Ted” Philip Sowers Jr. (81), resident of St. Maries, ID died Feb. 19, 2015 at Peace Health St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham, WA. He was born March 3, 1933 to Theodore and Alice (Wert) Sowers Sr. at Indianapolis, IN.
Ted grew up in Indianapolis and on Feb. 16, 1955, he married Elinor Ireland at Indianapolis. Ted and his wife lived in Blaine, WA for 30 years before moving to St. Maries in 1996. As an adult, he attended college at Western Washington Univ. He worked as an electrician for Intalco Aluminum Corp. in Ferndale, WA and retired from that company.
Ted was known for his knowledge of guns and enjoyed collecting them. Ted enjoyed new adventures and experienced kayaking, scuba diving, bowling, crossbow, archery, canoeing, fishing and hunting. He was a man of all seasons. His love for life will be missed by his family. He died in Whatcom County where many of his children and grandchildren were able to spend time with him before his passing.
Ted is survived by his wife Elinor residing in Bellingham, WA. Daughters Debra (Rollie) Raper of Bellingham, and Mavis (Daniel) Dean of Spokane, WA and son’s Troy (Susan) Sowers of Custer, WA and Craig (Kimberley) Sowers of Blaine, WA. also surviving are his brother Ronald Sowers of Freedom, IN. Ted is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by brother Allen Sowers and sister Vickie Farris.
