Obituary of Robert L. Buell

Robert L Buell (83) resident of Worley, ID died January 13, 2015 at Coeur d’ Alene, ID. He was born April 4, 1931 to Lloyd and Icelene (Taylor) Buell at St. Maries. Bob grew up in Calder, ID. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1949. As a young man, Bob worked in the woods with his father. He married Agnes Johnson in 1951 at St. Maries. They made their home at Calder. In the mid-1950’s, he worked for Business Enterprises that was owned by Lloyd and Carl Buell. In 1956, he purchased his first logging truck and began his logging truck business. Bob ultimately owned five logging trucks. In 1979, he went into partnership with Larry Derry Logging. In the mid-1980’s, Bob purchased Spokane-St. Maries Auto Freight. In 1987, Bob went into business with his brother Jack and formed Buell Brothers Real Estate business. He sold his business interests in 2007 to his brother. As a young man, Bob enjoyed cars. He loved driving new automobiles. Bob’s passion, however, was trains. He loved taking trips on trains, especially excursions in Alaska and throughout the Rockies. He especially enjoyed “dinner excursions “on trains. Bob loved watching football and baseball games. The family summer vacations were working summers at logging camps up the St. Joe River where his wife Agnes was the cook. Bob is survived by his son Val Joe Buell and daughter and son-in-law Vanessa and Gary Edwards all of St. Maries and daughter Bobbi Don Morgan of Post Falls, ID. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law Jack and Eleanor Buell and sister and brother-in-law Pam and Harry Grubham all of St. Maries. Bob is also survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Floyd and Nancy Turner officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the Grub Box.
