Obituary of James Kenneth Green

James K. Green (77) longtime St. Maries, ID resident, died May 29, 2015 at his home in St. Maries while under Hospice care. He was born May 31, 1937 to Dewey and Zelma (Schuck) Green at Eureka, MT. Jim grew up in Eureka and graduated from High School there with the Class of 1955. As a young man, Jim worked in the lumber mill at Eureka. He and his brother Ben also cut Christmas trees at Plains, MT to make money. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960. He was stationed in Paris, France. Jim was honorably discharged in 1962 and moved to the Benewah Valley. He worked for various area logging contractors in the woods. Jim married Patricia Raines in the spring of 1965 at Coeur d’ Alene. They made their home at Calder before moving to St. Maries in 1966. In 1972, Jim went to work for Northern Units Logging of Potlatch Corp. as a contract supervisor. He retired from that position in 1996. In his retirement, Jim worked surveying logging roads for Scott Logging and Borgmann Logging. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and going four wheeling with his grandchildren. He also loved trips to the Washington coast and go crabbing on the beach. Jim also enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Jim is survived by his wife Pat at the family home. Also surviving are sons Mike and Matt Green both of St. Maries and son and daughter-in-law Russ and Theresa Green of Spokane, WA. Also surviving are his brothers Larry Green of Spokane, WA, Ben Green of Homedale, ID and Ted Green of Kent, WA. Jim is also survived by sister’s Karen McQuade of Marble Creek, ID, and Zita Winter of Bovill, ID., 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by brothers Don, John and Bob Green and sisters Agnes Humphrey, Ramona Green, Regina Green and Rosemary Green. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Family Cemetery North Side Road, Calder, ID.
