Obituary of Ida Isabell Scaley

Ida Isabell Scaley (96) passed away on September 2, 2015 in St. Maries. She was born to Frances and Paulina (Capwell) True on December 30, 1918 in Kooskia, ID. Ida grew up in Kooskia attending school through the 5th grade. She later met Nick Scaley and they moved to Springston, ID. Ida and Nick married in Harrison, ID on December 17, 1936. Ida and Nick bought a home on Harrison Flats where they farmed. When the farming wasn’t going well, her and Nick logged together. Ida would run a CAT on their logging jobs. In 1957 they relocated into the town of Harrison where Ida was a homemaker raising her children. In 1972, together with her husband, Ida ran a paper route delivering The Spokesman Review for the residents of Harrison. After 12 years of delivering newspapers, Ida and her husband retired. They moved to St. Maries in 1990 where they retired and enjoyed life with one another. In August of 2005, Ida’s husband Nick passed away. Ida had a very green thumb and enjoyed staying at home taking care of her plants. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and grandchildren. Ida is survived by her son Nick Scaley Jr. of Medimont, ID, 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Rose Marie Simundson. A Graveside Service is scheduled for September 11, 2015 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
