Obituary of Lowell Shane Rhoads

Lowell Shane Rhoads (56) resident of Plummer, ID. Died May 15, 2012 at his home at Plummer from an apparent heart attack. Shane was born March 31, 1956 to Roderick and Dolores (Craig) Rhoads at Spokane, WA. He grew up in Spokane and at an early age went to work in the family business "Sunshine Health Facilities" working in property maintenance. Shane attended schools in the North Central School District . While in Jr. High, he wrestled for the YMCA in Spokane. After his graduation for North Central High School, He worked as a commercial painter for several Spokane area building contractors. Shane also became a Certified Nurses Assistant and worked for the Tekoa Care Center in the early 1990's. He married Meladi Lowley on August 25, 1999 at Spokane. Following their marriage, they made their home in DeSmet, ID. Health issues forced Shane into disability retirement in 2007. He moved to Plummer last year to be closer to his wife's employment. When he was younger, Shane enjoyed floating the Spokane River. He also enjoyed camping and motorcycles. He was a "History Buff" and enjoyed reading Louis LaMour books and attending Rock concerts. His wife said "children and animals gravitated to him" and his brother Tim added that "he was a man who had not much , but gave all he had to those who were in need." Shane is survived by his wife Meladi at the family home in Plummer., sons Joseph Lowley of Medford, OR, Brian Lowley of Spokane, WA, Andrew Lowley of Everett, WA and William Lowley of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are his mother Dolores Rhoads of Spokane, WA, Brothers Tim , Mike and Patrick Kelly Rhoads all of Spokane. He is also survived by his sister Julie Sweet of Spokane and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Evangeline Abraham Longhouse , DeSmet, ID with Fr. Thomas Connolly S.J. Officiating. A meal will be served following services.
