Obituary of Cleora Jane Shewell

Cleora Jane Shewell (82) resident of Worley, ID, died Nov. 16, 2015 at Spokane, WA. She was born June 27, 1933 to John and Edith (Mullins) Dalrymple at Montrose, CO. She grew up mostly around Grand Junction, CO. Cleora moved to Maybell, CO with her family as a young girl. She graduated from Craig High School, Craig, CO with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Cleora enrolled in Mesa College at Grand Junction. It was there that she met William Shewell who was attending school there. They were married December 18, 1951, days before her husband shipped out to Korea with the U.S. Army. While her husband was in the service, Cleora worked as a secretary for a mining company at Telluride, CO. Following her husband’s discharge in 1953, hey moved to Phoenix, AZ. She continued to work as a secretary while her husband pursued his education at Phoenix College and Grand Canyon University. Her husband became an ordained minister and the family moved to Scottsburg, OR where she was a homemaker and raised her family. In 1967, they moved to Worley, ID where her husband pastored the Worley Comm. Church and she continued to raise her family. As a pastor’s wife, she was actively involved in teaching Sunday school and operating the AWANA program which is designed to bring young people of the community into the church. Cleora’s husband retired in 1972 and they moved to Alberta, Canada. Cleora worked as an Executive Secretary for the Executive Director for the Prairie Bible Institute High School and college. She returned to Worley in 193. Cleora’s husband Bill, died in June of this year. Cleora enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and working Jig Saw Puzzles. Cleora is survived by her daughters Marith McCoul of Worley, ID and Cindy Cronk of Spokane Valley ,WA. also surviving are 3 grandchildren Graveside services will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at 9:30 am at Evergreen Cemetery, Plummer, ID with a Memorial Celebration of her life following at the Worley Comm. Church, with Pastor Don Cambra officiating. A gathering of family and friends following in the Church’s Fellowship Hall.
