Obituary of James Otto Paschtat

James “Jim” Otto Paschtat Jr. (74) passed away at his home on November 30, 2015. He was born to Otto and Ethel Paschtat in Olympia, WA on August 20, 1941. Jim grew up in Farmington, WA. He attended the Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, WA and Auburn Academy in Seattle, WA. Following Jim’s schooling, he enlisted into the Army. Upon his return he married Frances Ryan on December 21, 1963 and worked for the County of Spokane as a Mechanic. He later decided on a career change and enrolled into Spokane Community College’s Culinary program. After his time in college he stayed home and took care of his daughter. In 1989 his wife Frances passed away, and he relocated to Payette, ID for 5 years. Jim returned to Spokane and wintered at Salton Sea in his fifth wheel. In 2001 Jim moved to Tensed, ID and eventually moved North ending up in Plummer, ID. Jim enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, and the mountains. He also enjoyed visiting hot springs, attending church, going to coffee with the guys, and making his rounds around the area visiting everyone. Jim will be remembered by his jokes and infectious laugh. Jim is survived by his daughter and son in-law Cherie and Todd Engebretson of Walla Walla, WA and his sister and brother in-law Ethel and Robert Heath of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by 1 grandchild, 2 nieces, and 1 nephew. A memorial service is planned for December 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Plummer, ID. A potluck gathering of family and friends will follow at the church. Another memorial service will be planned at the Hayden Lake Seventh Day Adventist at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to Hope’s Haven in St. Maries, ID or to the Plummer Living Hope Adventist Church in Plummer, ID.
