Obituary of Hazel "Lucille" Skinner

Our beloved mother, Hazel “Lucille” Skinner (84) passed away at Sullivan Park Care Center in Spokane Valley, WA on December 4, 2015. She was born to Andrew and Mildred Foster in Meadow Creek, ID on June 24, 1931. She grew up in Bonners Ferry and Santa, ID and attended school in St. Maries, ID. Lucille graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1949. Following high school Lucille married William Robert “Bob” Skinner on July 9, 1949 in her parent’s back yard in St. Maries, ID. She was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children until 1961 when Lucille and Bob purchased the Lowry Building and established the business Fleet Parts and Service. While Bob ran the shop, Lucille ran the office. The couple loved to travel, and they did a lot of square and round dancing. In 1989 Bob passed away and their son Bob took over operating the business. Lucille remained active with Fleet Parts until she retired in 1990. In her retirement she met Walter Jenkins. They became companions and were together until he passed away in 2012. During their time together they enjoyed going to yard sales, fishing, traveling to Alaska, and going to see Walt’s family in Eugene. Lucille was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Community Presbyterian Church. Lucille is survived by her daughter and son in-law Robin and Dale Baerlocher of St. Maries, ID, sons and daughters in-laws Andy and Terryl Skinner of Spokane, WA; Bob and Kelly Skinner of St. Maries, ID and sister Alma O’Kelley of Waterville, WA; seven granchildren: Teresa Herambourg, William Skinner, Mary, Charlie, and Matt Skinner, and Andy and Jennifer Baerlocher, 15 great grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her Oregon family Roger and Ellen Swets, Bruce and Elaine Koffler, Ginger and Dwight Wartenbee, Donna Garner, Walt Jenkins Jr. and John and Wilma Wardian, Boise and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Robert “Bob” Skinner, and companion Walter Jenkins. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries, ID. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 at the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries, ID. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will be following at the Eagles Lodge.
