Obituary of Amy Michelle Nicholson

Amy Michelle Nicholson (44) resident of St. Maries passed away on December 6, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Timothy and Mary Tesch on October 15, 1971 in Park Rapids, MN. At the age of 9, her family relocated to Soldotna, AK. She attended school in Soldotna where she sung in a choir and took dance classes. Amy graduated from Soldotna High School with the class of 1990. Following high school Amy went to work for Ski-Mos where she waitressed and cooked. She married Rance Epler on December 16, 1993 and the couple started a family. The family moved to Idaho in 1995 and Amy was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children. Her marriage to Rance ended in divorce in 2004. Amy married Kevin Nicholson on July 11, 2008 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. The couple enjoyed camping together, fishing, hunting for mushrooms, gathering crawdads, and just about anything else the outdoors could give them. Amy was a woman of many talents. She roofed for Nicholson Roofing, worked Admitting at St. Maries Family Medicine for 3 years, and was a Barista and Waitress for Main Street Espresso and Hills Cabin City for many years. Amy was very creative and she loved gardening, decorating, crochet, and crafts. Her husband Kevin taught her how to build furniture and playsets out of logs. This was also something the couple enjoyed together; however Amy was so talented and handy, she picked up tools and started creating her own furniture. Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2014, and she was an advocate for women and how preventative screenings are so important. Amy will be remembered for her big heart, her smile, her love for all of her friends and family, and for how courageous and positive she was through her battle with cancer. Amy is survived by her husband Kevin at the family home; her parents Timothy and Rita Tesch of Cleveland, OH and Mary and Rick Isley of Salmon, ID; sons Timothy Epler and Easton Nicholson of St. Maries, ID; step-sons Brandon Epler of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and Jordan Nicholson, Spencer Wernecke and Jessie Nicholson of Rockford, WA; daughter and son in-law Kathy and Michael Guevarra of St. Maries, ID; daughter Kendra Nicholson of St. Maries, ID; step-daughter and son in-law Jennifer and Darius LaPierre of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; brothers and sisters in-law Aaron and Apryl Tesch and Jacob and Ling Tesch both of Lonsdale, MN; sister and brother in-law Becky and Duane Stiles of St. Maries, ID; and 2 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Saturday December 12, 2015 1:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge in St. Maries, ID. A gathering of family and friends will follow to share a meal at the lodge.
