I was so sorry to see Ramona's obituary in the paper last week. I knew her from my St. Mary Immaculate Catholic church family in St. Maries, and I always enjoyed visiting with her. I first met Ramona and her buddy, Mary, five or six years ago. My friend Patrice and I called the two - Mona and Mary - The Church Ladies. They were so cute in their warm winter clothes and stocking caps, and every meeting was friendly and enthusiastic. I was in the process of becoming a Catholic at the time, and they encouraged me whole-heartedly on my journey. Mona taught me a great deal about the church in general and about being a Catholic in particular. Just before my baptism and confirmation, Mona and Mary spent an emotional hour with me casting away my doubts and fears. During that experience, the Blessed Mother appeared to me; when I told Mona about that, she took it right in stride. I think that says something about the strength of her faith. I miss The Church Ladies, and I will always be grateful for their friendship, support and their infectious zest for life. Mona was one of a kind, and my life has been enriched by having known her. I feel sad knowing I won't see Mona and Mary zipping around town in their station wagon with the dog in the back seat.

I would like to give my deepest condolences to Romona's family and friends. I am deeply sad to know she has left hus. My children and I will really miss seeing her at church. I treasure my conversations we had at coffee hour, and the little gifts she gave my children. I am thankful for her suggestions on prayer with my daughter's having nightmares. She said for me to have her talk to mother Mary and say a Hail Mary next time. Mother Mary would talk to Christ to stop the dreams. It worked. Will miss her.
