Obituary of David Allen Holstein

David Allen Holstein (75) passed away on December 29, 2015 at LaCrosse Health & Rehab Center in Coeur d’ Alene, ID due to complications of Parkinson’s and Dementia. David was born to Samuel and Myrtle (Recter) Holstein on October 21, 1940 in St. Maries, ID. He grew up and attended school in St. Maries. Following his schooling, David went to work in the woods as a logger. He logged for many years and owned and operated his own company D&J Logging of St. Maries. David met Gail Peters, and later relocated to Post Falls, ID where he worked for Potlatch Corporation. David and Gail spent 25 years together, and he retired from Potlatch Corporation at the age of 64. David enjoyed the outdoors and everything it had to offer including camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with friends. David is survived by his mother Myrtle Recter of Usk, WA; his loving partner Gail Peters of Post Falls, ID; his son Jason Holstein of St. Maries, ID; his daughters Tammy and Jody; and his sister Margie Gillman of Newport, WA. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. David is preceded in death by his father Sam Holstein, his step-mother, daughter Ann Louise Holstein, and his uncle Dan Holstein. A memorial service is planned for April 30, 2016 at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m..
