Obituary of Ollie O. Stanley

Ollie Odessa Stanley, 104, died February 15, 2016 at Valley Vista in St. Maries. She was born October 20, 1911, in Granby, Missouri, the daughter of Robert C. and Melvina J. Walker. She married Thomas M. Stanley April 3, 1929, in Neosho, Missouri. He died May 21, 2001. They were married for 72 years. Shortly after they were married they moved to Wyoming, where she lived and worked on a ranch, and also had a homestead on the slope of the Big Horn Mountains. When World War II started they moved into the oil fields to do vital work for the war effort. After the war they moved to St. Maries where they spent the rest of their lives. She was a very talented lady in many areas. She sang and played the piano, she was a great seamstress, knitted beautifully, crocheted, and raised a large garden with her husband. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and spent a lot of volunteer time helping out with various projects. She spent the last few years under the wonderful care of Valley Vista Assisted Living in St. Maries. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Eagan of Roanoke, IL, Nadine (Gerald) Renfro of Eagle, ID and Melba Hedlund, Otis Orchards, WA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Maries. A memorial will be held on June 11, 2016 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church in St. Maries, ID.
