Obituary of Mary Jane Squires

Mary Jane Squires (76) resident of St. Maries, ID died February 13, 2016 at Valley Vista Care Center. She was born September 9, 1939 to Richard and Nine (Danielson) Lapp at Lane, ID. She grew up at Lane and attended schools at Rose Lake and Kootenai High School. Mary married Russell Dale Canaday in 1957 in Santa, ID. They made their home at Hillsboro, OR. where she was a homemaker living on a farm and raising her family. Mary was divorced in 1969. Marry married Terry Squires in 1971 in Idaho. They made their home at Kellogg. She worked as a cashier for a local 7-11 store. Mary later went to work for Mountain Valley Care Center at Kellogg as a dietician. She worked there for 3 years before moving to Portland, OR. In 2005. Mary moved to Roundup, MT and lived there for 2 years before moving to Post Falls, ID in 2011. Her husband died that year. She then moved to Mossy Rock, WA to live with her daughter. She has been a resident of Valley Vista since last year. Mary enjoyed fishing and flowers. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mary is survived by her son Russ Canaday of Kalama, WA and son and daughter –in-law Ty and Shenelle Squires of Oxnard, CA. Also surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law Colette Cotsford and Scott Vinson of Mossy Rock, WA and Wilma and Clarence Kelly of Baltimore, MD. Mary is also survived by sisters Penny Fehrs, Dixie Giest and Sally Sears all of Plains, MT, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Squires as well as brothers Al, Barry and Phil Lapp and sister Micki Lapp. At her request, no services will be held.
