Obituary of Patrick M. Gaskill

Patrick M. Gaskill (60) resident of Fernwood, ID died Feb. 13, 2016 at Benewah Comm. Hospital. Pat was born Jan. 26, 1956 at Lewiston, ID. He was adopted along with his brother Scott by Lloyd and Florence Gaskill who brought them to St. Maries shortly after Pat’s birth. Pat grew up in St. Maries and graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1974. While growing up in St. Maries, Florence took Pat and Scott for a visit to the Holy Lands and they were baptized in the Jordan River. Pat’s mother Florence owned and operated Pat and Scotts Restaurant in St. Maries which was named after her son’s. Following graduation, Pat went to work in the mines in the Silver Valley. He also worked in his father’s logging camp. Pat had several marriages that resulted in divorce. He received a head injury while working in the woods and had to leave that occupation. He then briefly took up long haul truck driving. Shortly thereafter, he became totally disabled. Pat’s last lady friend was Merriel “Kate” Parker from Butte, MT. They lived quietly together at their home in Fernwood from 1999 until her death in 2010. Pat enjoyed cooking, he really wanted to become a chef. He also enjoyed entertaining at their home and playing music. Pat loved playing the harmonica and tried to learn to play the fiddle. He also enjoyed watching classic movies and spending time with family and friends. Pat is survived by his former Step-son Michael Holbrook of Spokane, WA, numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Scott in 1995. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 1:00 pm at the CAF Building in Fernwood, ID.
