Obituary of Carol Ann Clark

Carol Ann Clark (79) resident of St. Maries passed away on February 21, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Clifford and Mildred (Munyan) Cronk in Western, NE on April 29, 1936. Carol grew up in Portland, OR attending Grant High School graduating with the class of 1952. Following high school, Carol attended Good Samaritan Nursing School. Carol was a substitute for a blind date when she was at nursing school. This is where she met Gene Clark. The couple began dating and later married on August 11, 1956 in St. Maries, ID with Gene’s dad officiating. Following their wedding, Gene drove dump truck for Pompelli while Carol lived in Portland. The couple found out that they were going to have a baby, so Gene re-enlisted into the U.S. Airforce. Gene and Carol were stationed in Duluth, MN and started their family. Carol continued working as a surgical nurse wherever the family was stationed. They moved around quite a bit including 5 years spent in Germany. Gene retired from the military in 1974 and the family relocated back to Portland, OR. Carol worked as a nurse for Providence Hospital and was forced into retirement when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After her battle with breast cancer, Carol became a Den Mother volunteering her time to Cub Scouts. In 2003 the couple moved to St. Maries, ID to get away from the city. They bought property up Alder Creek. Carol loved the seclusion and peacefulness of the property. She also enjoyed her dogs, hiking, the outdoors, baking gardening, crafts, knitting, crocheting, and playing the organ and piano in her church. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the Portland City Opera. Carol is survived by her husband Gene at the family home, her sons Clifford (Linda) Clark and Joseph (Tiffany) Clark of St. Maries, ID, and Michael (Donna) Clark of Vancouver, WA; daughters Mary Linthorst of Salt Lake City, UT, and Katherine Clark of Portland, OR; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Susan Jane Kimball and sister Mary Cronk. A funeral service will be Friday February 26, 2016 2:00 PM at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Maries, ID.
