Obituary of John Lawrence Thomas

John L. Thomas (78) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on March 2, 2016. He was born to Joseph and Virginia Thomas on October 2, 1937 in Baltimore, MD. John grew up in Toledo, OH graduating from Macomber High School with the class of 1955. Following high school he enlisted into the Marine Corps. After his service with the military, John attended Ohio State University and earned a degree in Software Engineering. John worked as a private contractor his whole life. He worked on military equipment and their guidance systems. He also worked on Government contracts with top security clearance. John’s daughter Marlena used to travel to North Idaho to visit family. On one of her trips, John decided to follow her and fell in love with north Idaho. Wanting a permanent home, he relocated to St. Maries and built his home out on Round Lake. He still continued to work and his job allowed him to travel. John’s first love was watching Ohio State football. He also enjoyed fishing, fishing, and more fishing. John is survived by his daughter and son in-law Marlena and Greg Giles of St. Maries, ID, 2 grandchildren, and his many loving friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother David Thomas. At his request there will be no services.
