Obituary of Lou Ella Mather

Lou Ella Mather (90) resident of St. Maries, ID died April 29, 2016 at Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries. She was born Feb. 12, 1926 to Virgil and Ethel (Atchley) Long at Parks, AR. She grew up in Parks, AR and graduated from High School there with the class of 1944. Following her graduation, she moved with her family to Corcoran, CA. Lou Ella worked at Yuba City, CA in the area orchards harvesting fruit. This is where she met Gordon Mather while they were working there together. They were married in September of 1946. Lou Ella moved to Linda, CA in 1950. She was a homemaker and raised her family. In 1976, Lou Ella started working as a seamstress for a local dry cleaning company. Her husband died in 1990. She retired in 1994. Lou Ella moved to Silverton, ID in 2013 and to St. Maries in July of 2015. Lou Ella enjoyed crocheting, gardening and playing with her grand and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Emanuel Faith Tabernacle Church of Marysville, CA. Lou Ella is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Heather and Jerry Darnell of Silverton, ID, her brother Jerry Long of Tulare, CA, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Bryan Mather and brothers L.C. Long, Harold and Eloyd Long and sister Flossie Ball.
