Obituary of Jerry R. Manley
Jerry R. Manley Jr. (64) resident of Fernwood, ID passed away at his home on May 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Jerry Manley Sr. and Dorothy Bowser in Albuquerque, NM on December 24, 1951. Jerry’s father was Special Forces in the military and his job took the family all over. In 1971 Jerry graduated from high school in Tracy, CA.
Following high school, Jerry was drafted into the United States Army. One of his job duties was overseas patrolling the waters in Saigon. He was in the Army for 2 years and served in the Reserves for 5 years. After he was discharged from the Army, Jerry worked numerous jobs around Tracy, CA.
In 1980 Jerry relocated to Fernwood, ID with his father. He went to work for Emerald Creek Garnet, and later went to work for the State of Idaho Department of Transportation. He met Rhonda Parker in St. Maries one night out on the town. They later started dating in 1997 and married on March 11, 2008 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. They had one son Tom and raised their grandson Tim. The family enjoyed their life in Fernwood. Jerry retired from the state of Idaho after working 30 years. In his retirement he enjoyed taking his wife to casino’s and gambling, sitting on his porch watching wild life and the birds, helping his wife garden, and spending time with his family and many friends. He loved watching the Seattle Seahawks and enjoyed sports on tv. Because he had a California background, he still cheered and followed the San Francisco 49ers.
Jerry is survived by his wife Rhonda at the family home in Fernwood, son Tom Manley of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Step-Daughters Randi (Jason) Howard of Anchorage, AK and Kathy Flowers of Brooklyn, NY, brother Dave Overstreet of Tracy, CA, step sisters Sami Brown and Judy (Keith) Sibert of St. Maries, ID. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his step son Tim Brusky.
