Obituary of Ruby Winetta Toland

Ruby Winetta Toland (93) died at home on July 2, 2016. She was born September 26, 1922 in Mountain Grove, MO to Stephen and Nola (Branson) Kendall. When she was 8 months old the family moved to Usk, WA. After more moves her father built their home at Hayden Lake, ID where she started school. In 1931 they went back to Missouri and returned to Idaho in 1936. After a few months in Coeur d'Alene, ID they moved to Fernwood, ID. On May 10, 1941 she married Bennie Toland in St. Maries, ID where she lived the rest of her life, except for 3 years in Sanders, Emida, and Fernwood. She was a member of the fraternal order of Eagles Auxiliary #2012 for over 73 years. In her 73 years of membership she was a Past President, Past State President, and Past Mountain Regions President of Eagles Auxiliary (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alberta, and Saskatchewan Canada). Ruby was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America Camp #5354. She was very active in both holding offices and volunteering to help when needed. She enjoyed various crafts and spending time with her family and friends. Ruby is survived by her son and daughter in-law Leonard (Lenny) and Donna Toland of Santa, ID. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Elaine, son Kenneth, her brother Frank (Buddy), sister Eunice Kibbie, and great grandson Joey Ozark. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Idaho or Benewah Community Hospital Better Care Fund. A visitation will be July 8, 2016 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hodge Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday July 9, 2016 11:00 am at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries, ID. Interment will be held at 12:00 at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID. A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will follow at the Eagles Lodge in St. Maries, ID.
