Obituary of Eugene Charles Hicks

Eugene Charles Hicks (73) resident of Fernwood, ID passed away at home on June 30, 2016. He was born to Charles and Alta Maye Hicks on May 30, 1943 in Potlatch, ID. Eugene grew up in Vanetta, OR attending schools there. Following his schooling, he enrolled into the US Army. Eugene was trained in underwater demolition and he served for 4 years. Following his service, he returned home and met Rita McGinnis. The couple got married in Cottage Grove, OR and made their home near Monroe, OR. They started their family having 3 boys. Eugene worked as a Millwright in Trust Joist Mill. He learned and practiced martial arts earning his black belt. In 1980 the family moved to St. Joe Valley and Eugene went to work Logging for Henry Sindt. The family then moved to Fernwood, ID. Eugene went to work in construction. He fell 3 stories injuring himself which forced him into retirement. In retirement Eugene enjoyed practicing and talking about martial arts, riding his motorcycle, target shooting, and his animals. Eugene is survived by his sons Archie Hicks of Fernwood, ID and Charles Hicks of Coeur d’ Alene, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, and his son Troy Hicks.
