Obituary of Frances M. Beard
Frances M. Beard (72) Longtime St. Maries area resident, died August 5, 2012 at St. Maries from a heart attack. She was born January 10, 1940 at Rociada, New Mexico. Her mother died young and she was adopted and raised by her aunt Frances Valerio. She grew up in Kellogg, ID and graduated from Kellogg High School with the class of 1958. She married Vern Miller in 1959 in Coeur d' Alene. They made their home at Round Lake, near St. Maries where she was a homemaker and raised her family. She and Vern were divorced in 1986. She worked as a bartender for the Korner Klub and Lucky Duck Taverns. She married Fred Beard on Dec. 15, 1990 at St. Maries. She and Fred operated the "End Zone" bar at the St. Maries Bowling Lanes. They operated the "Neutral Zone" at the Lucky Duck Tavern. Illness forced her to retire in 1998 and return to being a homemaker. She enjoyed woodworking, making bird houses and collecting frog characters and figurines. She had a love for all kinds of animals. Fran is survived by her husband Fred at the family home. Son Brian and his wife Susan Overman of Wallace, ID, daughters Lynda Miller of Plummer, Rhonda Miller and Julie Miller Williams both of Coeur d' Alene , ID. Also surviving are her sisters JoAnne White of Pinehurst, ID and Della Favaro of Vancouver, WA. Fran is also survived by grandchildren Jaron Williams, Keith Humphrey, Meghann Miller , Bryan Miller, Jared Miller, Cameron Johnson, Kendra Miller, Nathan Miller and Kevin Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter Courtney Miller in 2004 and her first husband Vern Miller. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 8., 2012 at 2:00 p.m. At Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, ID with Pastor Parker McNeill officiating.
