Obituary of Nancy Ann Landt

Nancy Ann Landt (63) resident of Emida, ID. Died August 11, 2012 at her home following a courageous 1/1/2 year battle with cancer. She graduated from Watertown High School with the class of 1966. Following graduation, she attended Paier School of Art in Hartford, CT, where she met her first husband Nick Iannone. They were married in 1969 in CT, then moved to Maine where her husband was stationed with the U.S. Airforce. Her daughter, Shauna, was born there in 1971. A few years later she moved to South Florida, working for an advertising agency and Stuart Recreational Dept. as well as teaching art classes to all ages. She moved to Ocala, FL where she continued teaching and painting. After her divorce in 1985, Nancy met Dr. Fred Landt III at Ocala, FL and after they were married, they moved to Sparr, FL. While continuing her education, she taught art classes and worked at a womens shelter. In 1990, she moved to Alamagordo, N.M., where she cared for her husband in his declining health, as she had for many family members throughout her life. Her husband died in 1994, and she focused on remodeling several several historic houses in the area. During this time, she met Kurt Richardson, a carpenter and handyman who she found out had lived only about 30 miles from her when she was growing up in Connecticut. About 18 years previously, Kurt had found a skeleton key that he carried with him, trying it in any old door he found in his travels. It never fit in any door, until he went to help Nancy with her remodeling. His key fit her door perfectly, and they began a long and beautiful life together, moving to Moscow, ID in 1998. They found a piece of land on Santa Creek, where they moved in 1999, building their home from the ground up, themselves. Nancy continued painting, becoming a member of the St. Maries Council for the Arts, and displaying her work in the Denise Oliver Gallery in Harrison. She met many wonderful friends through her artwork, as she donated murals to Hope's Haven animal shelter, the Emida Volunteer Fire Department, and several local civic groups. Nancy is survived by her soul mate and partner in life , husband Kurt Richrdson at their home on Santa Creek, her daughter Shauna Ayers of Jacksonville, FL and brother Robert Smithwick of Salisbury, CT , her neice Colleen Lester, 2 grandchildren and several wonderful friends who brought joy to her life. A celebration of Life and Art for Nancy will be held on Sat. Sept. 8th, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the Palouse Divide Lodge at the top of Harvard Hill of State Hwy 6 So.
