Obituary of Detreik Samuel Vaughn
Detreik Samuel Vaughn (27) passed away in a log truck accident on September 15, 2016 near Kendrick, ID. He was born to Dwayne Vaughn and Denise Poland in Boise, ID on December 30, 1988. He attended school in Boise and graduated from Mt. View High School in Meridian, ID with the class of 2008.
Following high school Detreik started dating his long time childhood friend Kacy Parker. After a year and a half the couple found out they were expecting their first son Sam. The couple were very much in love and decided to marry on March 30, 2010 in Boise, ID. The couple’s second son Travis was born just before the family moved to the Harrison Flats to find work. Shortly after the move, they relocated to St. Maries, ID.
Detreik went to work for Archie’s IGA in the deli department at Subway. He worked several other jobs to support his family. In 2012 he volunteered for the St. Maries Fire Department, and shortly after in 2013 he attended Sage Truck Driving School and obtained his CDL. Detreik went to work as a long haul truck driver. He worked the long haul truck driving job for a few months before going to work for the North Eastern Wildlife Research as a Janitor. Detreik was a Janitor for 14 months when he decided to go to work for his father in-law driving logging truck for Cowboys Trucking.
Detreik enjoyed hunting, playing his video games, and playing Dungeon and Dragons. Most importantly he was a family man and loved spending all of his extra time with his two boys. They would often compete against one another on the Wii; however as time went on it is noted the boys could beat their dad at Wii Sports.
Detreik is survived by his wife Kacy Vaughn, children Samuel Vaughn, Travis Vaughn, and the couple is expecting daughter Sarah Vaughn at the family home in St. Maries, ID. He is also survived by his parents, his brothers Dwayne Lorh and Nathan Lorh of Oregon, Travis Wood of Kuna, ID; sisters Crystal Poland of Mt. Home, ID, Tiffany Wood of Kuna, ID, and Sabrina Poland of Boise, ID.
A memorial service will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene. A gathering for family and friends to share a meal will follow at the church. A memorial fund for his children has been set up at Banner Bank in St. Maries, ID.
