Obituary of Bessie Ann Houck

Bessie Ann Houck (78) lifetime resident of Plummer, ID, She died August 23, 2012 At her son's home in Spokane Valley. She was born October 2, 1933 to Howard and Mae (Brower) Wiltse at Plummer. She grew up in Plummer and graduated from Plummer High School with the Class of 1951.She served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. She married Robert Seagraves in 1955. They divorced the following year. She worked for Connie's Cafe in St. Maries located where Pat and Scott's Restaurant later was in business. Bessie married Tom Houck on Oct. 25, 1957 at Plummer. She was a homemaker and raised her son Butch while working as a restaurant cook for Leo's Worley Club. During Expo "74" in Spokane, she worked as the Chef for the Desert Sarah Hotel in downtown Spokane. She began her own upholstery business in the late 1970's and was still operating it at the time of her death Bessie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and working craft books. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making costumes for the Atlas and Dalton Elementary Schools Music programs in Coeur d' Alene. Bessie was an avid Seattle Mariners Fan. She attended the Plummer Bible Church. She was Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge of Plummer and served as Idaho State President of the Rebekah's from 1993-1994. She was Past President of the L.A.P.M. Bessie was elected to the Plummer High School Hall of Fame in 2002. She Served as an Election Judge for Benewah Co. she also was a Past President of the Plummer Community Celebration Days Committee Bessie is survived by her son and daughter in law Butch and Pat Houck of Spokane Valley, WA. Grandchildren Thomas Houck of Kennewick, WA, Starla Thompson of St. Maries, ID, Joseph Houck of Spokane, WA, Crystal Houck of St. Maries and Matthew Schug of Spokane, WA. and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 1993, brothers Hubert and Richard Wiltse and sister Clara Nichols. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plummer Bible Church with Pastor David Donnerberg officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery , Plummer.
