Obituary of Leonard E. Pfleiderer

Leonard E. Pfleiderer (80) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away peacefully on December 12, 2016 after living for 8 years with complications of stroke. He was born to John and Sonya Pfleiderer in Huntington, NY. Born and raised in Huntington, Leonard attended school and played football at Huntington High. He graduated with the class of 1954. Following high school, Leonard attended St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. He enrolled in the ROTC program, and graduated in 1958 with a BS in Geology. Following college he served in the Army Reserves, and went to work for Shell Oil as a Petro-Geologist. Leonard left Shell Oil and taught Jr. High Earth Science for 30 years. He also obtained his Masters degree at Hofstra University. Long-time resident of Setauket, NY, Leonard moved to St. Maries to be closer to his daughter and her family. He loved being close to his grandchildren in his home up on Hells Gulch and enjoyed all of his animals on the ranch. His grandchildren kept him busy with horse shows and other activities. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. One of his biggest enjoyments was hanging out at Buds for coffee and conversation with the guys. Leonard is survived by his daughter and son in-law Inga and Joseph Cabral of St. Maries and his two granddaughters Ayla and Mandy Cabral both of St. Maries. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Pfleiderer and brother Peter J. Pfleiderer. A memorial service will be planned later this spring.
