Obituary of Roberta Lee Garrick Juneau

Roberta Lee Garrick Juneau (76) resident of Plummer, ID passed away at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on December 13, 2016. She was born to Albert and Elizabeth Garrick in DeSmet, ID on October 2, 1940. As a child Roberta grew up in Tensed, and attended grammar school at Mary Immaculate in DeSmet. She finished her high school years in Sprague graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy with the class of 1959. Following high school Roberta attended Valley Business School before attending college at LCSC. In 1961 she attended North West Airline School in Portland, OR. In 1973 she went to work for the Nez Perce Tribe. She married Ernest Alexis Chapman and had 4 children. Ernest passed away and she later met Leroy James Henry, and had 1 daughter with him. Roberta married Eli Frances Nomee Sr.; however the marriage ended in divorce. It was on December 30, 1986 when she married the love of her life Maurice Juneau, and sadly he passed away in 1991. Roberta worked for the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe in many capacities including Planning, Finance, and Housing Authority. In her last years with the tribe she worked as the Executive Assistant. She served on Tribal Council for 2 terms, and retired in May 2007 after 34 years of dedication to the tribe. She was a work-aholic who loved her job and loved serving the tribe. In her spare time she liked to dance and take scenic road trips around the mountains and down old dirt roads. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she enjoyed spending time with them. Roberta was a very special lady and she will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. Roberta is survived by her children Joseph (Theresa) Chapman of Plummer, ID, Debbie Chapman and Dave Ochoa of Plummer, ID, Dean Chapman of Worley, ID, and Melissa Henry of Worley, ID. She is also survived by her brother Joe (Cheryl) Garrick of Forks, WA, sister Barbara (Don) Sczenski of Worley, ID, and sister in-law Joy Garrick of Tensed, ID; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Maurice Juneau, her daughter Elizabeth Chapman, her sisters Shirley Garrick and Alberta Stensgar, her brothers Al Garrick and Gabe Aripa, and her great-grandson Tyson “Littlewings” Machado. Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Evangeline Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet, ID. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Evangeline Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet, ID.
