I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Artie and Shirley were always so good to me. I have always thought of you guys as family. Artie was one of the coolest dads that I've ever known. Please let us know when his memorial will be. Love and hugs to you all.

John and I have so many wonderful memories of Artie and Shirley and all your family. Shirley made all my bridesmaids dresses. We named our dog Artie. The tree in our front yard is Arties tree because Artie told us not to put it there. We loved him. When I see yellow roses, walleye and top of the line German short hairs, I think of Artie. God bless you Wilma, and all your family. Artie will be missed.
Love you all,
John and Janie Ragan

My condolences to all the Bauer family and to Wilma. Artie was a wonderful man and will definitely be missed.
He was working as a sheet rocker with Mike Adams and John Hudspeth when I met him. He volunteered to help us roof our cabin as winter was approaching. We enjoyed getting together for meals with Artie, Shirley and the kids, both at their cabin and around the campfire at our place in the Benewah; always a very lively and raucous occasion!
Whenever I work on a carpentry project and I am getting too particular about leveling or nailing something, I remember Artie saying loudly: "Nail it! A man on a galloping horse will never notice!"
Much love to you all, Denise

I have a lot of priceless memories dating back to the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with Art and his family. I really enjoyed my short conversation with him at the Penzkover’s 50th anniversary in 2015. I also enjoyed talking with Adam and Peggy too. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time. Take care and God bless you guys!

Artie was one of my favorite characters. Miriam actually met Artie before I did. Our house in Ragan's Addition was not complete when we came here, and I thought I could sheet rock the basement. It did not go well, and I turned my attention to other projects (like tying flies). Mike Adams was building some homes in Ragan's Addition and Artie was his sheet rocker. My wife (much like Shirley, it appears) took it upon herself to approach Artie about completing the sheet rocking project. He entered the room, looked around, and asked, "Did someone do this on purpose?"
Artie and I were in the Sheriff's posse and after one ride he approached my saying, "I've got a horse you might like." That's how I got Spinner. Periodically, Artie would stop where my pasture ran alongside Hwy 3 and talk to Spinner. The horse never forgot him.
Artie will be missed.

Artie will truly be missed. I will always remember him on his tractor shoveling snow, or pushing dirt around... He was always out side doing something. He was so loved by his family and friends, I was one of those people. My heart is breaking for his family, I haven't seen him in a long time, ever since I moved away. I'm so happy he had Wilma by his side. They were great together. Rest in peace Artie. I love you.

I am so sorry for your loss but at the same time grateful Artie was able to live life to the fullest even up to his last day. He definitely was a second father to me growing up and I often think of the "helpful" advice he gave Gretchen and I. Rest In Peace, Art.

I have so many wonderful memories of Party Artie and will always treasure every one of them. He was so very good to everyone he knew and the very best neighbor and friend that I could have asked for. He came to visit me in Alaska and we sure had a great time, although he remembered it better than I do, maybe there is a reason for that. He and Shirley treated me as a member of your family in my younger days and I still feel like one of his kids. Wilma brought life back to Artie and I am so happy that they found each other. Last fall I visited with them over a drink and it was very enjoyable. I can still hear his voice, welcoming me home.
RIP Artie! Give Shirley a hug for me and tell Bucky and Thumper hi. When you get together with granny, grampa, Uncle Dick and Steve, give them my love and I'll see you all again. Love you Artie.
