Dear Jerry, Waylon, and All,
I am grieving for you, and am wishing for you to find strength during this time of sorrow. I am grieving for my mom, who has lost her sister and lifelong companion.
I am grieving. Mary was truly foundational in my life; she helped to shape my childhood and was a part of my being in the way that only family who have loved you since you entered this world can.
I will painfully, hopefully one day joyfully, remember the laughs we could always share about my quirky mother, whom Eva and I are both very much like. But, I've always said that Eva and I also share Mary's sense of humor and probably got a large part of it from her.
I am so happy that she had all of you; my mom was always telling me how much joy her grandchildren brought her and I could hear it in Mary's voice and her laugh whenever I spoke with her over the phone and she'd tell me one tale or another. She was a great storyteller, who observed life in all its darkness and light with keen insight.
Wishing you, again, the strength to cope with your grief. A special hug for Bella, who I hear was very, very close to Mary. I lost our grandma (my mom's and Mary's mom) around the same age, and I know how devastating of a loss this must be for her.
