Obituary of Claudia Lorraine Balbi

Claudia Lorraine Balbi (75) resident of St. Maries, ID died February 9, 2017 at Schneidmiller House under Hospice care in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. Claudia was born April 26, 1941 to Harry and Maxine (Hill) Treloar in Butte, MT. Claudia grew up in Butte and graduated from Butte High School with the Class of 1959. Following high school, she attended St. Patrick’s School of Nursing in Missoula, MT. Claudia moved to St. Maries, ID to be closer to her family and went to work for Benewah Community Hospital. She later relocated to Butte, Mt and went to work for St. James Community Hospital as a Surgical Technician. Claudia met Harve Balbi on a blind date with some friends. They were married on August 31, 1963 in Walkerville, MT. She and Harve started their family and she worked nights at St. James Community Hospital as a Surgical Technician. The family later relocated to St. Maries where Harve found work at Potlatch Corporation and to be closer to family. Claudia raised her children and worked weekends at the Pines Motel. She later went to work full-time at Sears for 12 years before going to work at Harvest Foods as a cashier. Claudia retired after working at Harvest Foods for 10 years. Claudia loved to read, work puzzles, and camp. She loved spending time with her family and they were the most important thing in her life. Claudia is survived by her husband Harve at the family home. Her daughters and sons in law Debbie (Tony) Krupp, and Susie (Jeff) Hickman and her son and daughter in law Mike (Kim) Balbi all of St. Maries, ID. She is also survived by her sister Carmen Murphy of Spokane, WA, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. At Claudia’s request there will be no services.
