Obituary of Hilda G. Dean
Hilda G. Dean (80) longtime resident of Fernwood, ID passed away on February 14, 2017. She was born to Kent and Elba Nestle on August 11, 1936 in Almont, MI. Hilda spent her childhood in Almont and attended school there. She married Clyde Dean in 1951.
Clyde and Hilda relocated to Fernwood, ID where he pursued a job as a logger and Hilda stayed at home to raise their children. After her children were raised, Hilda went to work as a CNA and she assisted with Senior Companions for over 20 years. She loved BINGO and would play at the Fernwood Senior Center. Crocheting was another hobby she enjoyed and all of her family members had an afghan that was made from her. She also donated her afghans for auctions and benefits. Fundraising to help out organizations was another interest of Hilda’s. She often had raffle tickets to sell trying to help local organizations earn money.
Hilda loved animals and took in many stray cats and dogs. She would feed the deer on her property and she enjoyed watching them. Her friends often received friendship cakes and starts from her as she loved to bake them. Hilda was the kind of person who would do what she wanted to do and she marched to her own drum. Her friends and family will miss her very much.
Hilda is survived by her husband Clyde at the family home, her daughters Candy (Chuck) Ruehle of Valdosta, GA, Wendy (Bill) Sackman of Meridian, ID, Ronnie Kay (Jerry) Thompson of Nampa, ID, Vicky (Larry) Nichols of Coswell, MI, and Sharon Gonzalez of NV. Also surviving are her brother Skip Nestle of FL, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her children Raymond Dean and Veronica Dean, and numerous siblings.
The family suggests memorial donations to the St. Maries Senior Mealsite, 711 W. Jefferson, St. Maries, ID 83861. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
