Obituary of William Robert Stokes
W.R. “Bob” Stokes (78) resident of Spokane, WA died Feb. 21, 2017 in St. Maries, ID under Hospice Care. He was born May 18, 1938 to Lloyd and Violette (Millikan) Stokes in Spokane, WA. Bob attended West Valley High School where he was a standout athlete in baseball, basketball and football. He graduated from West Valley High with the Class of 1956. Bob then enlisted into the Washington Air National Guard.
Bob married Margaret A. Bautch in 1956 in Spokane where they made their home. He worked for Pacific N.W. Bell Telephone co for 35 years as a PBX repairman and installer. While raising his three sons, Bob was active in coaching little league while they were playing. Bob was divorced in 1984. Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and attending gun shows. He was also a HAM radio operator.
Bob is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law. Greg and Chris Stokes of Anchorage, AK, Mike and Kathy Stokes of St. Maries, ID and Phillip and Tami Stokes of Spokane, WA. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Susan Stokes of Lake Havasu, AZ, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by step-brother Harold Ogelsbee.
A family gathering will be held at a later date in Spokane, WA.
