Obituary of Curtis John Stein
Curtis John Stein (52) resident of Harrison, ID died May 28, 2017 at his home in Harrison from an apparent heart attack. Curtis was born September 11, 1964 to John and Verlaine Stein in Wagner, SD.
Curtis moved to Harrison, ID with his family as a small child. He graduated from Kootenai High School with the class of 1982. Following his graduation, Curtis attended the University of Idaho for two years before studying at the Inland Empire School of the Bible in Spokane, WA. In 1986 he moved to Des Moines, IA and attended Faith Baptist Bible College where he received his B.S. degree in Theology and became a licensed minister.
Curtis lived in Coeur d’ Alene, ID before moving to Brandon, FL where he worked in IT Tech Support. In 2012 he returned to Harrison, ID where he was a caregiver for his grandmother, and at the time of his death was a caregiver for his parents. Curtis worked as a substitute teacher in the Para-Pro program and drove school bus for Kootenai School District. Curtis met Brenda Powell in 2013, and they were married Oct. 31, 2015 in Harrison where they made their home.
Curtis enjoyed photography which he could do with his other favorite pastimes hunting, fishing, and camping. Curtis also enjoyed playing pool. His family and friends looked forward to the holidays when Curtis would decorate his home to the theme and dress up for the holidays and special events. He would also decorate his school bus to coincide with whatever holiday was occurring to the enjoyment of the children riding his bus.
Curtis is survived by his wife Brenda of Kellogg, ID; daughters Kimberly Stein and Laura Stein and son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Samantha Stein all of Brandon FL; parents John and Verlaine Stein of Harrison, ID; sister Dee and Dan Suhr of Hayden, ID. Also surviving are step-children Crystal (Kyle) Sauer and Adrian Parker of Kellogg, ID, Nichole Manley and Nicholas Powell of Newman Lake, WA, Angel Parker of Harrison, ID, Stephen Powell of Seattle, WA; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be Thursday June 8th at 6:00 p.m. at One Shot Charlies in Harrison, ID. The event will be a potluck and people are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
