Obituary of Myrna Jean Michael

Myrna Jean Michael (78) longtime Upriver resident passed away surrounded by her family at Valley Vista Care Center on August 25, 2017.  She was born in Bonners Ferry, ID on June 24, 1939 to Clarence and Addie (Geier).  She grew up in Wardner, ID until 1954 when the family moved to St. Maries, ID.  Myrna attended St. Maries High School.  She married Alan “Mule” Michael in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on December 15, 1956.

The couple made their home in Emida, ID and started their family.  Myrna stayed home to take care of her children and home.  The family later moved to Fernwood, ID in 1966 where she continued her role as a home maker.  When Mule retired in 2001, the couple moved to Clarkia, ID, and that is where Myrna resided until May 2016.

Myrna enjoyed crocheting, working jig saw puzzles, reading, and walking.  Mule and Myrna made many memories camping and traveling.  They also enjoyed socializing with their friends over cocktails and looked forward to weekly visits with them.  Myrna loved to volunteer and served on the Clarkia Library board, Clarkia Road District, and the Clarkia Water District.  She was a 34 year member of the Eagles, and enjoyed volunteering for most of the Upriver Poker Rides. 

She will be missed very much as she was the best mom ever and was a Cadillac of women.  Myrna is survived by her children Gary (Leeann) Michael and Lori (Steve) Glidden both of St. Maries; her sisters Viola Michael of Fernwood, ID and Gloria (John) Tolleth of Craig, AK; brothers Jerry Geier, Bruce (Lynn) Geier, and Arvin Geier all of Williams Lake BC; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alan “Mule” Michael, her infant daughter Carolyn Michael, brother Howard Geier, and sister Elaine Geier.

A memorial service will be Friday September 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge in St. Maries, ID.  A potluck gathering of friends and family will follow at the Eagles Lodge.  Please visit her online memorial at www.hodgefuneralhome.com
