Obituary of Michael W. Chase

Michael W. Chase (57) resident of the Benewah Valley, died October 5, 2012 at St. Maries . He was born September 17, 1955 to Thomas and Pollyanna (Harris) Chase at Crescent City, CA. He grew up and attended school at Biggs, CA. He graduated from Biggs High School there with the class of 1973. He married Penny Burns in the 1970's and they were later divorced. Mike lived most of his life in Forks, WA where he worked as a wood cutter as well as in cedar shake manufacturing.. In 1995, he moved to St. Maries. He continued to cut and sell firewood for a living. He made his home in the Benewah Valley. He and Jennie Rider joined their lives together in 1999. Illness forced his retirement in December of 2011. Being in the woods and working in the woods was the happiness in his life. Mike was also an avid gardener and one of his greatest pleasures was making things grow. Mike is survived by his companion Jennie at their family home near St. Maries. Also surviving are his sons Christopher and Matthew Chase of Yakima, WA and daughter Sarah Chase of Hermiston, OR. His brothers Joe Lewis of St. Maries and Steve and Kelly Chase both living in California. A sister Tammy and step-mother Ila June Chase both in California. No Services will be held at his request..
