I was fortunate enough to meet Maysel 2 years before her passing and i think of her nearly every day. I came around to help with odd jobs she needed done around the house. She had a beautiful home. While the beginning may have been a bit rocky, we eventually became friends. She was one of the most interesting women I have ever known and it was a pleasure to have gotten to know her. I only wish I had met her ealier in life. Toward the end, I was taking her to her doctor appointments and we spent quite a bit of time together though she was an extremely private person. She was smart, witty, and determined. She was a great businesswoman who took pride in her job to the very end and she didnt let anyone or anything deter her. She told me stories of things she had done, and she believed in me. She worked with both my mom and 2 sisters. One of whom had died before I came to know Maysel and when i met Maysel the first thing she said to me was how much she liked my sister and how sorry she was. That made me happy. She was preparing for surgery in which i was to care for her after but looking back on things I see that she already knew she wasnt planning to return. I knew she wasnt healthy but I really believed she was going to make it and looking back I regret not taking every moment I could to be with her until then. She was my friend and she never saw the age gap between us and it never felt like there was one to me. I could tell her anything and I looked up to her. It was sad after she passed away. I felt like this person I had become so close to was suddenly gone but I still felt so connected and I didnt know any of her children and there was this unsettling feeling as if i was family but in reality a complete stranger. I think of her all the time and I hope her family is all doing well. I wanted to add a note here to find some way to express my deep remorse over the loss of someone I miss so much and after 4 years, I still think of her constantly and she is truly missed. Thank you for this opportunity to say these things. I will never forget her.

Maysel was the woman who made having babies not scary to me. I looked up to her in many ways. In spite of her faults I loved her and appreciated her.
Maysel, hope you have found peace and reunited with your daughters.
My daughter Andrea is named after yours and Ray’s daughter whom I loved.
With love and caring,
Barbara
