Please accept our most sincerest condolences. Our prayers are with you and your family. May God grant your family strength an serenity through this difficult moment your family is enduring. God has promised us that we will soon be reunited with our loved one. "There is going to be a resurrection," the Bible confirms at Acts 24:15. "Do not be amazed at this, "Jesus assures as, "for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out"-John 5:28,29

Love you Dad,
You taught me to walk in your steps and hold your hand. You taught me how to dream and how to make my dreams come true. Thank you for loving me. We may not be able to see you, but your spirit is still around.
Love your daughter Janise

My sympathies to your family on the loss of BR. I was an impressionable young police cadet in the late 1970's when I met Bill at the BPD. He was working District 9, the toughest beat in the city, with Brian Baker and I idolized them both. When I went to work for the PD, I rode with Bill many times and always admired his work ethic, his understanding and ability to work with all people, and like others, I will never forget his radio talk..."Test, Test, BR West!" Bill was a wonderful man who left a great legacy.

I had the honor of working with Billlie while assigned to the warrant division in 1990-1991. It is some of my fondest memories from the police dept. My favorite memory is going to a warrant suspects home with Billie, one of us to the front and one to the back. After a few moments the police radio transmission would break "IIITTEM 17 got a warrant suspect running....." Boy could an old man run fast when need be. Florence so sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace my friend.

Billie and Florence; The words that we have can not do Billie justice. He was a mans man, a good cop and always knew he had your back. He taught me many things about how to handle and treat people we dealt with as well as the folks that we worked with. All will remember "test, test, test, BR West" as we prepared our tape recorders for duty, back in the day. The tears that runs down my face keep me was writing more. With all of our Love, Jerry and Marlene.

I was a young officer when BR was the Warrant Detective. He always had an easy smile, and the patience to teach us rookies how to handle the warrants paperwork. He's definitely one of the good guys and will be remembered as such.

I worked with B.R. for several years at Bakersfield P.D. He was a true professional and a fine man. I always enjoyed working with him.
B.R.had many talents. In the early 90's he heard my mother needed her dining room chairs refinished. He picked up the chairs at her home, refinished them and delivered them to her. He wouldn't accept any money for his work! She was always very thankful for B.R.'s help.

I had the privilege of knowing and working with BR during my short stint at BPD from 76-78. I literally don't know a single person who worked with BR who didn't like and respect him. Truly one of the good one. RIP BR.

During the 10 years I served at BPD, “test test B.R. West” is one of my fondest memories crackleing over the radio as he drove out to “Laredo” to book another warrant. Billy always had time to listen and loved to share stories of his adventures in the Warrant Detail. A larger than life character, I will always remember B.R. as pillar of the BPD, colleague and friend.
