Obituary of Larry D. Dorning

Larry D. Dorning (60) resident of Alder Creek in the Benewah Valley, died Dec.1, 2012 at his brother's home from an apparent stroke. He was born April 30, 1952 to Ray and Ann (Furman) Dorning at Everett, WA. He grew up in Central, Washington. He moved with his family to Plummer, ID in 1969. He attended Plummer High School. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972. He was stationed at Pensacola, FL. Following his discharge in 1974, he moved to Yakima, WA. He worked for S.S. Steiner Corp as a Production Lead. In the early 1980's, he worked as a logger on the Olympic Peninsula. Larry moved to the Benewah Valley in 1989. He worked for the St. Maries River Railroad for many years as a "gandy dancer" maintaining and repairing tracks. His last employer was Jack Buell Trucking where he drove log truck before becoming disabled in 2007. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and repairing old vehicles. He had a passion for taking care of dogs. He also enjoyed camping and riding his 4-wheeler. He never married. He is survived by his mother Ann Dorning of Yakima, WA. Also surviving are his brothers John and Clyde Dorning both of St. Maries, Dale and wife Lyn Dorning and Bruce and wife June Dorning, sister and husband Connie and Jim Stone and sister Lois Sali all of Yakima, WA. Memorial Services will be held in Yakima next summer at a date and time to be announced.
