Obituary of Kenneth N. Tyra

Kenneth N. Tyra (69) St. Maries, ID resident passed away at his home on April 15, 2018.  He was born on August 20, 1948 in El Paso, TX.  Kenneth grew up on a farm and helped his family work it.  He joined the United States Marine Corp. serving 4 years with 2 tours in Vietnam. 

While stationed in El Toro, CA, Kenneth met Paulette Gray.  The couple married 2 weeks after they met on January 10, 1971 in Cypress, CA.  They made their home in Anaheim, CA.  Kenneth went to work for Penhall driving water truck for road construction jobs.  He retired from Penhall in 2005.

Kenneth and Paulette wanted a more serene setting, so they bought property in St. Maries, ID and made their home in the beautiful mountains of Northern Idaho.  Sadly, Paulette passed away in 2007, but before she died Kenneth used to enjoy watching her sing and play the piano.  He also enjoyed watching the wildlife from his home, and he loved his 2 huskies.  A few more hobbies of his were panning for gold, blade smithing, and he also took Saturday trips to Marina’s to look at fancy boats.  He enjoyed history and enjoyed documentaries and history shows. 

Kenneth is survived by his son Jason (Kathrine) Tyra of St. Maries, ID, brothers Tommy Tyra and Garrett Tyra both of Texas, brother in-law Larry Gray of Anaheim, CA, sister in-law Deborah Eggers of Corona, CA, 3 grandchildren, and 4 nieces.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Paulette Tyra, and his sister Normalee Roy.

A graveside service is planned for Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID.
