Obituary of Marie "Toni" A. Thompson
Marie Antoinette Milesnick Wilson Thompson passed away July 7, 2018. She was 94 years of age. “Toni,” as she was known to friends and family, was born October 12, 1923 near Lewistown, MT to John Milesnick of Brlog, Croatia and Marie Alice Rose Alma Beaubien of Ville Marie, Quebec, Canada. Construction of the Fort Peck reservoir in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s forced the family to move from the Lewistown area. They settled in the Belgrade area and established the MZ Bar ranch. Toni graduated from high school in Belgrade and then attended Montana State College in Bozeman. She was named Rodeo Queen in 1941 and toured the west coast representing the city of Belgrade and the state of Montana. She married Alfred Harold Wilson November 6, 1942 and resided on the Wilson family ranch in Gallatin Gateway for many years. She and Harold had three children, Connie Robohn (Fred), Carol Martin, and Bob Wilson (Shirley). In addition to life on the ranch and raising three children, Toni worked for the U.S. Forest Service for many years. After husband Harold’s death in 1989, Toni married Alvin Thompson and once again resided in Belgrade. Alvin passed away in 1996. Toni was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading and Bobcat basketball.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands and her son, Bob, who died suddenly February 1, 2014. She is survived by her two daughters, her daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Toni’s family would like to thank the staff at Valley Vista for their care during mom’s/grandma’s time up there; especially in the last 2 weeks for going above and beyond with the care given to her.
A Mass Memorial service will be Saturday August 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Belgrade, MT.
