Obituary of Eleanora H. Garvin

Eleanora Helen Garvin passed away on January 4, 2013 with her family at her side. Born October 10, 1931 in Williams, Oregon to Arthur & Zola Gray and was the youngest of 9 children. While in High School she was a Majorette and worked in the family owned saw mill. In December of 1948 she married the love of her life, Edwin Z Garvin .They spent almost 20 years living in Alaska from Fairbanks to Ketchikan. While in Alaska she did various jobs such as teaching art and working at Alyeska Ski Resort. In the late part of 1978 they returned to the lower 48 and retired to the Inland Northeast at St. Maries, Idaho. Eleanora endured The Depression, 1964 March Earthquake in Alaska, 1964 Tsunami of Cook Inlet and Mount St. Helen eruption. She was loving, generous, artistic, spirited and had a great sense of humor. Eleanora's passions included gardening, painting, quilting and her family. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing. At Girdwood, Alaska she hunted and killed a bull moose with a 58 inch spread and weight of 850 pounds all on her own. Eleanora is survived by her son, Marrion E. Garvin of Peru, Indiana; son, Jonathan G. Garvin of St.Maries Idaho; granddaughters, Jessica Ausman of Harrison, Idaho and Bethany Garvin of Coeur d'Alene; grandsons, Kenny Garvin of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and Kevin Hutson, Edwin Garvin, Michael Garvin all of St.Maries, Idaho; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ladonna Elsom; grandson, Travis Cox; daughter, Rhonda Wilcox; husband, Edwin Zenith Garvin; parents, Arthur and Zola Gray; and her siblings. A service for family and friends will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 11th at Hodge Funeral Home in St.Maries, Idaho.
