Eugene Bowlin

Obituary of Eugene F. Bowlin

Dr. Eugene Francis Bowlin Sr. DMD, of Harrison, Idaho, formerly of Brookings and Bend, Oregon, passed away, (after suffering a ruptured Carotid artery), into our Saviors loving arms, at the age of 92, in Coeur d’ Alene,  ID on August 1, 2018.

He was born in Elm Creek, Nebraska on April 4, 1926, to Leroy and Clara Bowlin.

He is survived by his eight children; Sons, Dr Eugene F. Bowlin Jr. DMD. (Linda), Robert Bowlin, Bill Bowlin, (Kathy), Paul Bowlin, James Bowlin, (Rhonda), and daughters, JoAnn Bowlin, Carol Ann Zon, (Patrick), and Mary Ann, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.  Also surviving are brothers, Bob, Gary and Alan Bowlin, and sisters, Shirley Smith, Diane Batten and Sharon Miller.  Preceding him in death, are his beloved wife of 69 years, Clara May Bowlin, (June 23, 2018), his parents, and siblings, Margaret Stienmetz, Elizabeth Wimberley, and Valerie Bowlin.

A Dentist by trade, he had a practice in Brookings Oregon for over 25 years. After retirement, he eventually settled in Harrison Idaho, where he resided until his death.

He mastered anything he set his mind to. As well as being an accomplished Dentist, he was an electrician, musician, artist, home builder, and mechanic, among other things, many of which were self-taught. He enjoyed flying, drawing, fishing, but especially Elk hunting. He taught many students, including some of his children, how to successfully bugle for Elk.

He joined the Navy at 17 years old. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in Pearl Harbor during the war.  Although he lived most of his life in physical pain, he is now free. He was a silent contributor to many positive causes. Thank you Dad, for everything you taught us. You were an amazing, gifted Man. We will miss and love you always. “Go rest high, on that mountain...your work on earth is done...”
