Obituary of Rose Gonzales

Rose Gonzales (60) longtime Plummer, ID resident passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on November 6, 2018.  She was born on August 5, 1958 in Spokane, WA.  Rose was raised by her grandparents Alex and Susan Matt on the Coeur d’ Alene Reservation.  She attended schools in Oregon and Tekoa, WA.

Following her schooling, Rose moved to San Jose’, CA where she started a family.  After a little time down there, she moved back to Plummer, ID, and went to work at the Coeur d’ Alene Casino.  She held her position as a Payout Cashier for 18 years.  Her customers knew her from her bright smile and contagious laugh. 

From the day her grandchildren were born, Rose carried them home from the hospital and raised them.  Jose and Eleana were her pride and joy, and Rose always put them first.  She loved hosting tea parties for Eleana.  At holiday time Rose threw many extravagant parties for her grandchildren going all out on food, decorations, and gifts.  She loved spoiling them with treats and presents.  Her face would light up any time she would talk about them.  Sadly her grandchildren passed away on February 2, 2014.

Aside from spoiling grandchildren, Rose enjoyed going to yard sales, gardening, playing BINGO, and playing her Back to Back machines.  She had quite the sense of humor, and her friends and family will miss her laugh. 

Rose is survived by her son Jose Reyes of Spokane, WA; her aunt Wanda Matt of Plummer, ID; her uncle Alex Matt Jr. of Worley, ID; and her special friends David Matheson of Worley, ID, Theresa Nickerson of Worley, ID; and Michael Matt of Worley, ID.  Also surviving are numerous cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; her brother Bill Percell; and grandchildren Jose’ Reyes III and Eleana Maravilla. 

Prayer services were held for Rose on November 7, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley.  A funeral service was held on November 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Rose Creek Longhouse.  Rose will be laid to rest at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in DeSmet with her grandchildren.
