Obituary of Irene Lorraine Church

Irene L. Church (71) resident of Plummer, ID died November 15, 2018 at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, ID.  She was born February 1, 1947 to Louis and Jeanette (Ethier) LaValley at Millville, MA.

Irene grew up in Millville and graduated from High School there with the class of 1965.  She then attended a local Jr. College for two years.  Irene married Ron Ahles in Massachusetts in 1967.  They moved to St. Maries in 1970 following his discharge from the U.S. Navy.  Irene was a homemaker in St. Maries and raised her daughters. She and Ron divorced in 1985.  Later that year on December 28, 1985 she married Claude Church in Rosalia, WA.  They made their home in Plummer where she continued to be a homemaker.  She enjoyed all types of animals and watching hummingbirds.  She loved knitting and embroidery.  Irene loved Christmas and getting her picture taken with Santa Claus.  She was a shopper and a hoarder which made a good combination.

Irene was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Plummer, ID.

She is survived by her husband Claude at the family home in Plummer, ID; daughters Annette Hossfeld of St. Maries and Cheri (Gary) McCully of Plummer, ID; step-children Eugene (Frankie) Church of Nashville, TN, Jojena McGuire of Yakima, WA, Steve (Star) Church of Mill City, OR., Sandy Church of Rosalia, WA, Stacy (Sharlene) Church of Tensed, ID, and Steven White of Tampa, FL.  Also surviving are her brother Paul and sister Muriel both living in Massachusetts; 28 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by step-son Dave Church and brother Richard LaValley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 12 Noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Plummer, ID with Fr. Robert Erickson SJ celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer with a gathering of family and friends to follow at back at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Fellowship Hall.
