What a tremendous loss for Linda’s family and our community. So many memories of her smiling, kind and lovely self. She not only knew her customers on a first name basis, she always went out of her way to ensure their orders were the best! Over the years I have received her beautiful bouquets from out of town relatives, and their comments were always of how sweet and helpful she was, and who didn’t want her to write out the personal card as dictated because of her beautiful handwriting?!. My prayers with all who knew and loved this wonderful lady. God’s comfort for her family.

I will always remember Linda, and her beautiful smile and her gentle ways, each and and every time I came into her florist shop when I was trying to order that "special arrangement" for a very "Special someone". Sometimes a happy occasion, and sometimes a very sad moment....Linda always made it all feel right....She had a gift of heart. I will surely see you again someday, and you will be surrounded by beautiful flowers... in hand in greeting!

Carrie, Mandy, Ron, and family. Where to begin with memories and special words of Linda. She was always so kind to me growing up when I would make deliveries from our shop. The hugs and calming manner at Grandma's funeral as she quietly just appeared and took me into the house. Her sincerity when you could hear her talk to people in the shop helping them pick out just the perfect flower or gift for their loved one. And that beautiful smile when she would bring you those flowers. I loved being able to call and order flowers just say this is how much I have to spend you and Juanita work your magic. I always knew the person receiving would be ecstatic about what they brought. And maybe I'm not the only person who knows this, but she always shared with me how much she loved picking out just the right color ribbon to go with the multi colored mylar balloons. I always got a giggle out of it thinking only someone who cared so much about what people received would put that much time with just staring at a balloon. She will be missed by many, how she was loved by many.

I've known Linda most of my life. She was always "Carrie and Mandy's mom". I'm the same age as the girls so Linda by default attended most of my school events and sporting events. She was there when my mom couldn't be (which was a lot). There were a couple times that Linda provided my team snacks on my day and gave me money for food at away games. She was always very discrete about it. But my friendship with Linda became very personal 8 years ago. After my husband died, Linda brought me MANY beautiful bouquets and plants. On about her 3rd trip in as many days, I finally lost my shit and basically screamed at her that I didn't want anymore *%$&()&^ing flowers. Unphased by my hissy fit, she told me she was coming in (using her mom voice). We sat at my kitchen table, amongst all the flowers and plants, for hours? 20 minutes? I'm not sure. But I poured my heart out about how overwhelmed I was by these flowers and angry that they, too, would die soon and I didn't want the burden of throwing them away. I also expressed fear that the gorgeous plants would probably die because I was in no position to care for them and that made me feel tremendous guilt. I went on and on and she just sat there with half concern, half amusement on her face. I'm sure (I hope) I'm not the only crazy client she has ever dealt with. I don't even remember what she said, if anything at all, but she calmed my panic. She assured me she would give me cards to keep track so I could do thank you cards. She offered to help me with thank you cards. She later brought me a roll of stamps and said "I know you are going to need these" with a chuckle. As the years went on, I was lucky enough to receive many more flower deliveries on special dates. Linda always took the time to visit with me, keep track of my life, not just drop the flowers and go. And in general, I don't like visitors, so it was strange that I actually enjoyed her visits. With each year that passed, Linda started to personalize my bouquets. With the best of intentions, people would order flowers for me in yellow and orange (which were synonymous with my husband). Not to sound unappreciative, but it got to a point that those colors were almost traumatic. I never told Linda this but she seemed to just know. She knew pale pink and hot pink flowers were my favorite and she started to make those bouquets for me with more and more of MY colors. I promised to never admit that (oopppsssssss!) but she helped me see that transitioning into things being about ME was ok. She would bring mini bouquets for my daughter that I know no one ordered. I'm sure this sounds sappy and over the top but it was important to me. I'm sure that I wasn't the only person who "the flower" lady made an impact on beyond typical holiday arrangements and standard red roses. I'm sure she knew most everyone in this town's birthday, anniversary, loss date, etc. We would joke that she would be seeing me in 2 weeks when I would bring a box of empty vases, ribbons, and flower picks back. She called me when my mom died. I had her cell phone number, not just the store number, in my phone. She would text me vs call me so that she didn't wake me up after working a night shift. We joked that my dog finally gave up barking at her. I could ramble on and on. And I know that my sense of loss is NOTHING compared to her close friends and family. But I'm already dreading my upcoming "special" dates because Linda was one of the only constants over the last 8 years. She was at my door every year when many other people who said they would be weren't. I honestly think she would have showed up even if I didn't have any flowers coming! I always knew how great she was and how much I appreciated her but as I type this it really hits. I thought I was going to write a short condolence but the more I think back...and the more I think ahead....the more that just spills out. I'll hush now but I hope I got the point across that Linda meant a lot to many people in crazy little ways that we probably didn't even realize. To say she will be missed is an understatement....

I think of Linda when I recall my Navy days. Ron and Linda and me came home from San Diego in my '57 Chev. It was a cold drive and my heater wasn't working. Somewhere in Oregon the wet snow got into the distributer. I cleaned it up and put a bag over the distributer to keep it dry. Well, as luck would have it the bag caught fire about an hour later. With flames & smoke coming out of the hood I drove the wrong way on a freeway ramp to get off the highway and fix the problem. Again, as luck would have it, there was a State Trooper sitting at the gas station and promptly gave me a ticket even though I explained the urgency of the situation. I don't think Linda thought very much of me after that. Rest in peace, Linda.
